It is a solidarity and support program that we initiated to support fisher families affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes, storms, tsunamis, and pandemics in our country.
With this program, which aims to help/aid the families of fishers who suffer financial and/or emotional damage due to natural disasters, we aim to contribute to the protection of the social and economic integrity of the fisher families and the sustainability of the fishing profession.
In order to restore the financial and emotional loss of fisher families in the post-disaster period, the program provides them with social and economic aid.
The program contains financial and emotional aid packages for post-disaster fisher families.
We took action to support local fishers who suffered a tsunami in Sığacık, Seferihisar, Izmir as a result of the earthquake in the Aegean Sea on 30 October 2020.
With the fund support of Turkish Philanthropy Funds(TPF)‘ and in collaboration with KAMER Foundation, S.S. Sığacık Aquaculture Cooperative, S.S. Izmir Aquaculture Cooperatives Regional Unit, and Seferihisar Municipality; we delivered aid packages for those who are damaged by the tsunami in Sığacık, after Izmir earthquake.
The meticulous aid continues increasingly during the pandemic period when unity and solidarity are needed more than ever.
All the packages were delivered to the fisher families and their relatives door-to-door. The receiver families expressed their satisfaction with the support that WFS provided in their time of need.
