Our Blue Planet Blue Jobs Project (BPBJ) contributes to the preservation of marine ecology and the sustainability of our seas for the human benefit.

For a sustainable “blue economy”, we promote, the healthy and easy conventional methods of processing and canning discarded fish for efficiently use of sea resources, in order to address and reduce Post-Harvest-Fish-Loss problem, to raise awarenesses and incomes of Small-Scale-Fishers, to hand down to future generations.

By this project we aim;

to reduce “post-harvest fish loss” in small-scale fisheries, caused by some problems in the fishing sector such as unconscious and overfishing, insufficient transportation and distribution, and some consumption habits.
to raise awareness about “Blue economy” and “Blue sustainability” in our society by working for the sustainable use and sustainability of the resources offered by the sea in harmony with the marine ecosystem.
to raise awareness on conscious production and sustainability of the marine resources that need to be used in a way that is in tune with the marine ecosystem and eco-friendly.
to benefit from the seas/seafood healthily and efficiently to sustain the biological balance and diversity of the aquatic environment.

The purpose of our project BPBJ is to sustain the biological balance and diversity of the seas. We envision to create a resource to benefit from the seas/seafood in a practicable and healthy way by popularising the methods of preservation and production of homemade canning of various fish species and to hand it down to future generations.

Our objectives are;

to collect and to spread the information of traditional methods of preserving post-harvest fish by making “home made” canned fish,
to create a collective written resource, so that information can be passed onto future generations.

Shortly, we aspire to create awareness in our society by working for the marine resources to be used environment-friendly, consciously, sustainably, and without harming the marine ecosystem.

What are the common interests that our project serve?

To popularise the methods of benefitting from the seas and seafood in a healthy and practicable way for the sustainability of biological balance and the diversity of the seas;
To support the employment of women fishers of the traditional family fishing that is the key mechanism for sustaining the fishing occupation in Turkey;
To benefit from the local resources and to primarily contribute to that region economically;
To provide the option of side income to the women fishers who are the primary victims of the degradation of the marine ecosystem and the decrease in biodiversity;
To contribute to the healthy diet options of the local and urban families by preserving/increasing the nutritional value of the fish;
To support the easy access of the low and middle-income families to the fish;
To deplenish the overfished stocks that are otherwise wasted during the process of production and consummation;
To contribute to the seafood culture by adapting the recipes which are made by homemade canned fish to the fast and modern life;
To hand down the traditional methods of producing and preserving seafood;
To contribute to the production and consummation of the fresh, quality, and ecological goods;
To highlight the notions of solidarity, living healthy, and self-sufficiency in the fair competition environment;
To help amend the gender inequality (as the actors of application, volunteers, and the target audience of the project are women) in the fishing sector.
